Assessment Process

All queries and requests regarding admissions are routed through our counseling clinic named as Buti Health & Research Centre (BHRC) which is held every Thursday. But anyone who wants to visit the clinic must take an appointment in advance, which can be done any weekday between 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The processing of applications happens once in a year depending upon the availability of the seats.
Please note:

  • We have been offering services primarily to persons with ‘intellectual challenges’ i.e. persons who have been diagnosed with an IQ of below 70. However since 2003, we have started offering admission to slow learners also as they too do not get appropriate vocational training and work opportunities in our society.
  • The defined age range for any student seeking admission is 13 years to 35 years. But exceptions are possible.
  • Admission is only offered to a student if we feel the individual will benefit from the program that MUSKAAN offers.

the Admission Process

Following the assessment, if the student is found to meet the admission criteria, admission is offered. Once the admission is accepted by the student and the fee is paid a parent orientation is conducted where expectations of the organization from the new parents are shared with them.  Lastly transport routes are worked out & the trainee joins in July.
All admissions are probational for a period of 3months i.e. they are finalized only after the student spends three months at Muskaan. The finalization of admission depends on the levels of cooperation shown by the student’s family.
Please do remember:

  • In case appointments for assessments are cancelled or delayed without information by the applicant. They will not be rescheduled.
  • Muskaan has a waiting list and parents can register with us so that as soon as seat becomes available we can inform them.
If admission formalities are not completed within the stated time the seat will be offered to another applicant.

HOME BASED TRAINING PROGRAMME

Home-based program starts prior to final admission. It is a 3 to 6 months intensive program where the candidates are clubbed under groups (based on their level of functionality) and are given training in certain basic pre-requisite skills required for our set-up. Parents’ involvement is a necessary condition for admission.
